Terms of use
Beta version · Last updated: November 1, 2026
Draft pending legal review. These terms describe the agreement Clio proposes during its public beta. They have not yet been reviewed by a professional and may change before version 1.
Translation. This English version is provided for convenience. The original is the versión en español, and if the two differ in any way, the Spanish version prevails.
Clio is a Discord bot and a web panel for running communities: welcome messages, auto roles, moderation logs, invite tracking and, later on, tickets. By adding Clio to a server or logging in to the panel, you accept these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Clio.
1. Who provides Clio
Clio is developed and provided by Pablo Iglesias Pose, an individual developer resident in Spain. Contact: [email protected]. Clio is not affiliated with or endorsed by Discord Inc.
2. Beta status
Clio is in public beta. This means that:
- It is provided "as is", with no guarantee that it will be available, work without errors or keep your data. There may be outages, feature changes and resets without notice.
- It runs on the developer's home server, not on professional infrastructure. We will deal with incidents with reasonable diligence, but there is no commitment on response times.
- It is free. Features marked "Premium · free in the beta" in the panel will become paid in version 1 (section 6).
3. Who can use Clio
- You must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Discord requires users to be at least 13 years old; in Spain, in addition, children under 14 cannot consent to the processing of their data on their own (see the Privacy policy).
- To add Clio to a server or configure it in the panel, you must have administrator permission on that server, or the authorization of someone who does.
4. Admins' responsibilities
If you add Clio to your server, you decide which features to turn on and in which channels. In particular:
- You are responsible for making sure Clio is used lawfully on your server, and for telling your members that the server uses Clio and which features are active (for example, the join log or the logs of deleted messages). You can link to our Privacy policy for this.
- You are responsible for the permissions you grant Clio on Discord and for who can access the channels where Clio posts logs.
- You must handle your members' requests about their data and, if needed, forward them to Clio's contact email.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use Clio to:
- Send spam, unsolicited advertising or unwanted mass messages.
- Harass, intimidate, monitor or discriminate against people, on your server or elsewhere.
- Get around Discord's Terms of Service, its technical limits or its security measures, or use Clio on servers dedicated to activities Discord prohibits.
- Deliberately overload the service, try to access other servers' data or tamper with the panel to obtain permissions you don't have.
- Resell the service or pass it off as your own.
If a server breaks these rules, the developer may remove Clio from that server, limit features or block a user from the panel, with or without prior notice depending on how serious it is. We also reserve the right to withdraw the service from a server for technical reasons (for example, disproportionate resource usage), giving notice where possible.
6. Price and premium features
- During the beta, all of Clio is free.
- Clio's core (welcome, basic auto roles, logs and invite tracking) will remain free after the beta.
- Features marked Premium in the panel will require a subscription in version 1. Notice will be given at least 30 days in advance in the panel and on the support server, stating the price and conditions. If you don't subscribe, those features are turned off on your server; your configuration is kept in case you subscribe later, and the rest of Clio keeps working.
7. Personal data
How Clio handles the data of members and panel users is explained in the Privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: Clio does not store message content; it stores configuration, a join log and, if turned on, the roles of people who leave; a server's data is deleted 30 days after Clio leaves it.
8. Relationship with Discord
Clio uses the Discord API and complies with Discord's Developer Terms of Service and Developer Policy. If Discord changes its API or its terms, some of Clio's features may change or disappear. Discord's decisions about your account or your server do not depend on Clio.
9. Intellectual property
Clio's name, logo, code and texts belong to the developer. The texts, images and settings you enter in the panel are yours; you give us permission only to store and display them in order to provide the service.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, Clio: lost configuration, messages not sent, roles not assigned, logs not posted or service interruptions. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, in particular liability for willful misconduct or for damages to consumers that Spanish law does not allow to be excluded.
11. Leaving and end of service
- You can stop using Clio at any time by removing it from your server. Its data is deleted after 30 days.
- You can log out of the panel whenever you want; your session is deleted immediately, and otherwise it expires after 7 days.
- The developer may shut Clio down or end the beta. If that happens, notice will be given at least 30 days in advance in the panel and on the support server, and a way to export your configuration will be offered.
12. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms during the beta. If a change is significant, we will announce it in the panel at least 15 days in advance. If you keep using Clio after that date, you are considered to accept the new version; if you don't agree, you can remove Clio from your server.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you can go to the courts where you live and use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform. Before that, we ask you to write to us at [email protected]: almost everything can be sorted out by talking.
